Union Cabinet Approves Namma Metro Phase-3 Expansion: New Corridors to Transform Bengaluru’s Transit System

Date:

Bengaluru – The Union Cabinet has given the green light for a major expansion of the Namma Metro network with the approval of two crucial corridors under Phase-3 of the Bangalore Metro Rail Project. This expansion, which carries a projected cost of Rs 15,611 crore, promises to enhance connectivity and drive economic growth across the city.

The first corridor will stretch from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura, encompassing 21 stations. The second corridor will connect Hosahalli to Kadabagere, featuring nine stations. These new routes are expected to streamline travel between residential areas in southern Bengaluru and key commercial and tech hubs along Mysore Road and Hebbal.

The expansion, known as the Orange Line, is anticipated to have a significant impact on the local real estate market. According to local property experts, the improved connectivity is likely to drive up real estate values in southern Bengaluru by 10-20 percent. The new metro lines are expected to make the southern suburbs more attractive to potential homebuyers and investors, further fueling the area’s growth.

This substantial investment in Bengaluru’s metro infrastructure underscores the city’s ongoing efforts to enhance urban mobility and address the transportation needs of its growing population. With these new corridors, the Namma Metro Phase-3 project aims to provide a more efficient and integrated public transit system, benefitting both daily commuters and the broader economy.
