Namma Metro Extends Services for IPL 2026 Matches in Bengaluru

Date:

Bengaluru: In a commuter-friendly move, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has announced an extension of metro service hours during the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 matches in Bengaluru.

The decision comes in response to increased passenger demand on match days, particularly for games hosted at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The extended timings aim to ensure smooth and safe transportation for thousands of cricket fans attending late-evening matches.

According to officials, metro services on both the Purple Line and Green Line will run beyond regular hours on match days, with additional last-mile connectivity arrangements also being explored to manage crowd flow efficiently.

Authorities stated that the initiative is part of efforts to reduce traffic congestion in key areas of the city and encourage the use of public transport during major events. Special security and crowd management measures will also be in place at metro stations near the stadium.

Commuters and cricket enthusiasts have welcomed the move, noting that extended metro services will make it easier to travel safely at night without relying heavily on private vehicles.

The Indian Premier League continues to draw massive crowds, and such measures are expected to enhance the overall match-day experience in the city.
