PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Sri Guru Bhairavaikya Mandira in Karnataka, Pays Tribute to Spiritual Legacy

Mandya (Karnataka), April 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sri Guru Bhairavaikya Mandira at Sri Kshetra Adichunchanagiri in Karnataka, paying tribute to the rich spiritual heritage of the region.


Tribute to Spiritual Lineage

The Mandira has been constructed as a memorial to the revered seer Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji, honouring his contributions to spirituality and social service.

The Prime Minister described the occasion as a celebration of India’s civilisational strength and spiritual traditions.


Rituals and Temple Visit

During his visit, PM Modi:

  • Offered prayers at the Sri Kala Bhairava temple
  • Visited the sacred Jwala Peetha, associated with Lord Shiva
  • Participated in religious rituals before inaugurating the Mandira

The ceremony witnessed participation from spiritual leaders and devotees.


Architectural and Cultural Significance

The newly built Mandira stands out for its distinct architectural design, inspired by:

  • The Konark Sun Temple style
  • Elements of Hoysala, Chola, Chalukya, and Ganga architecture

It is envisioned as both a place of worship and a centre of inspiration for future generations.


Emphasis on Cultural Heritage

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting India’s spiritual and cultural legacy, noting that such institutions play a vital role in guiding society and strengthening values.


High-Level Participation

The event also saw the presence of several dignitaries and religious leaders, reflecting the significance of the Adichunchanagiri Math as a major spiritual centre in Karnataka.
