Three champions emerge as Indian women win gold at Asian Under-15 wrestling event

Indian female wrestlers delivered a stellar performance at the Under-15 Wrestling Championship on Sunday, winning three gold medals and securing a total of eight medals for the country. Samruddhi Satish Patil (33 kg), Vinakshi (46 kg), and Disha Shokeen (66 kg) won gold medals in their respective weight categories. Along with the gold medals, India also won two silver and three bronze medals, ensuring a 100 percent podium record across all eight medal bouts of the day.

Meanwhile, the Indian Under-15 Greco-Roman team secured third place in the overall team standings, amassing 150 points based on their performance on the opening day. Uzbekistan topped the list with 171 points, while Kazakhstan finished second with 167 points.

Divya Rani (36 kg) and Gyaneshwari Vrusheshwar Shinde (42 kg) won silver medals. Both lost their final matches against Japanese wrestlers; Divya Rani was defeated 2–6 by Sara Kori, while Shinde lost 7–9 to Ramu Sugibayashi in a closely contested bout.

India also won all three bronze medal matches; Nisha Mor (54 kg) easily defeated Chinese Taipei’s Lo I-Huang 8-0, Deepanshi (58 kg) beat Mongolia’s Anudari Bayanmunkh 6-1, and Anjali Santosh Vetal (62 kg) dominated Mongolia’s Khongorzul Lkhagva-Ochir with a 15-2 victory. (Telangana Today)
