PM Modi’s Comprehensive Update on Manipur: Efforts Towards Stability and Development

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a detailed account in the Rajya Sabha today, highlighting the government’s concerted efforts to restore normalcy and foster development in Manipur. His address focused on the progress made, challenges faced, and the commitment of the Central government to support the northeastern state through various initiatives.

PM Modi began by emphasizing the government’s continuous efforts to normalize the situation in Manipur, citing a significant decline in incidents of violence. “We are committed to restoring peace and stability in Manipur,” he assured, attributing the positive trend to collaborative efforts between the Central and State governments.

Providing specific updates, PM Modi mentioned the registration of over 11,000 FIRs and the arrest of more than 500 individuals in connection with recent disturbances in Manipur. These measures, he underscored, are pivotal in upholding law and order and ensuring the safety of all citizens.

In addressing the challenges posed by natural disasters, PM Modi reiterated the Central government’s unwavering support to manage the flood situation in Manipur. “Two teams from the NDRF have been deployed to assist in relief operations,” he announced, underscoring the government’s proactive stance in addressing humanitarian crises.

Highlighting the Union Home Minister’s extended stay in Manipur to oversee relief efforts firsthand, PM Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing immediate assistance and fostering long-term stability and development in the region.

Reflecting on historical governance, PM Modi criticized the frequent imposition of President’s rule by the Congress party in Manipur. “Congress imposed President’s rule in Manipur 10 times,” he stated, contrasting it with the current administration’s approach of empowering local governance and promoting democratic principles.

In concluding his address, PM Modi expressed confidence in the resilience of the people of Manipur and their ability to overcome challenges. He reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring comprehensive development and prosperity for all residents of the state.

PM Modi’s comprehensive update in the Rajya Sabha underscores the government’s proactive measures, challenges faced, and ongoing commitment to fostering peace, stability, and sustainable development in Manipur. As the situation continues to evolve, the government remains focused on addressing immediate needs and promoting long-term progress in the region.
