Karnataka BJP President Announces Padyatra to Protest Against Alleged Corruption Under Siddaramaiah

Date:

Bengaluru, Karnataka — BJP Karnataka President BY Vijayendra has unveiled plans for a major political rally, termed a ‘padyatra’ (foot march), aimed at highlighting allegations of corruption under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The padyatra, scheduled to commence on August 3rd and run for seven days until August 10th, will see participation from senior leaders of both the BJP and the Janata Dal (Secular) [JD(S)].

In a press conference, Vijayendra elaborated on the issues driving the padyatra, including allegations of financial misconduct in various state-run schemes. “Senior leaders from BJP and JD(S) have met and discussed in detail the rampant corruption occurring in Karnataka under Siddaramaiah’s leadership. Specifically, the ST Development Corporation scam, where funds meant for the welfare of the Scheduled Tribe community have been looted by the Congress government, and the MUDA scam are among the numerous issues we are addressing,” Vijayendra stated.

The padyatra will feature prominent figures including former Chief Ministers BS Yediyurappa and HD Kumaraswamy. Vijayendra assured that the protest would proceed as planned, even if the state government attempts to obstruct it. “The padyatra will start on August 3rd and conclude on August 10th. On the final day, national leaders of the BJP will also be present. If the government tries to halt our padyatra, we will not be deterred,” he asserted.

The announcement of the padyatra underscores the escalating political battle in Karnataka, as opposition parties aim to mobilize public opinion against the current administration. The protest is expected to draw significant attention and participation, reflecting widespread dissatisfaction with alleged corruption and mismanagement within the state government.

As preparations for the padyatra advance, all eyes will be on the response from the state government and the impact of the opposition’s campaign on Karnataka’s political dynamics.
