As the Karnataka Budget Session 2025 unfolds, BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal has sharply criticized the state government, claiming that the budget will remain “merely a book” without any real impact. He accused the ruling party of failing to fulfill its guarantees and expressed doubts about any meaningful economic reforms.
“Budget will stay merely a book… No guarantees are being fulfilled by the state government… The economic state of Karnataka is very bad, and hence we don’t have any expectation from the budget,” Yatnal stated.
The BJP leader’s remarks come amid growing concerns over the state’s financial health, with opposition leaders accusing the government of mismanaging resources and failing to deliver on its promises.
Yatnal also took a swipe at Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, highlighting the alleged financial struggles of contractors in the state.
“Contractors are in a very bad state right now in Karnataka and are committing suicide,” he said, suggesting that the economic policies of the government have worsened conditions for businesses and infrastructure projects.
With the opposition mounting pressure on the state government over budget allocations and economic policies, the session is expected to witness heated debates. The ruling party, however, has maintained that its policies are aimed at long-term development and social welfare.
As Karnataka navigates economic challenges, all eyes are on how the budget will address key concerns and whether it can restore confidence in governance.
