Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, reaffirming India’s growing role as a leading voice of the Global South.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s strong commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promoting inclusive, innovation-driven growth across Commonwealth nations. PM Modi emphasised India’s efforts to share its development experiences with partner countries, particularly in areas such as digital public infrastructure, innovation, and capacity building. He noted that India has consistently promoted the use of open-source platforms and affordable technology solutions to help developing nations accelerate growth and improve governance.

Highlighting cooperation among Commonwealth countries, the Prime Minister said India believes in collective progress and mutual learning. He stressed that empowering partner nations through knowledge-sharing and technology transfer is essential for building resilient and self-reliant societies.

The 28th CSPOC brings together Speakers and Presiding Officers from legislatures across the Commonwealth to deliberate on parliamentary practices, democratic strengthening, and cooperation.
