DoP, LSSSDC and C-CAMP Conduct Workshop on Strengthening of Medical Device Industry Scheme in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, in collaboration with the New Delhi-based Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC) and Bengaluru-based C-CAMP, organized a stakeholder workshop to raise awareness about the Scheme for Strengthening the Medical Device Industry (SMDI) and to encourage greater participation from the medical device sector.

Approximately 150 representatives from the medical device industry participated in this workshop held at the C-CAMP campus in Bengaluru. The event aimed to shed light on the objectives, provisions, and opportunities available under the SMDI scheme, which seeks to foster the growth and competitiveness of India’s medical device ecosystem.

During the session, Mr. Hitendra Sahu, Director at the Department of Pharmaceuticals, provided information regarding the key features of the scheme and aspects of its implementation. He also interacted with industry representatives through a Q&A session, answering their queries and offering clear details about the various components of the initiative.

This workshop served as a platform for government officials and industry stakeholders to share their views on strengthening domestic capabilities, fostering innovation, and building a robust medical device ecosystem in India. The Department of Pharmaceuticals has reiterated its commitment to supporting the medical device industry through collaborative programs and initiatives under the SMDI scheme. Special emphasis has been placed on fostering the sector’s growth, skill development, and innovation.
